Taking Stock ~ March 2016

Joining in with Pip from Meetmeatmikes & doing my quarterly taking stock post. If you want to play along, I’ve attached a copy of the list at the end of this post for you to copy & paste, just be sure to credit & link back to Pip if you do.

So 3 months of the year have flown by already. Here’s what I’ve been up to.

Making: School lunches & healthy treats

Drinking:
Water, caramel rooibos, Apple & ginger tea, regular tea, hot chocolates but NOT soft drinks!

Reading: besides the occasional bedtime story I’m not reading anything at the moment, unless blogs count?

Wanting:
Sleep & a bit of time to myself.

Looking:
Up at the sky, a lot. Trying to take the time to find some peace & calm in my days & also for my photo of the day for the challenge I set myself this year to capture #366_skies

Playing:
Stages- cd by Josh Groban in anticipation of attending his concert next month

Deciding: whether or not to have a party for Peanut this year? He’s turning 5, which feels like a big deal (it is a a big deal) but we had a party last year & said we’d only do one every other year.

Wishing: the cycle of sickness would leave our family already. It’s been weeks & weeks of continued illnesses & I hate seeing the boys unwell, plus the crimp it’s putting in our socializing is killing me.

Enjoying: far too many hot cross buns & chocolate eggs

Waiting:
For my new little niece to make her entrance into the world. Any day now. (* edited to say she has now arrived!!! 🙂

Liking:
All things “Unicorns” yes still! You can see a few of my favs here in my flavor of the month post

Wondering:
If Pumpkin will ever learn to self settle & sleep through the night. 18 months now, it’s getting beyond a joke!

Loving:
My walks around the neighborhood. I love exploring new streets & getting out in the fresh air & sunshine, it’s good for the soul & my sanity.

Pondering:
what to do whilst hubby is off on holidays… go away? day trips & outings? Get things sorted & organised around the house? Maybe a bit of everything?

Considering:
What’s next?

Buying:
Baby gifts, Easter eggs & new pj’s

Watching: The Big Bang Theory, The Mindy Project & because of Mr 4- Dr Who!! He loves it.

Hoping: the world & people in it get their shit together…. It’s scary to think what kind of society my boys are growing up in.

Cringing:
Could Donald Trump really become the next US President?

Needing: A good nights sleep.

Questioning: Life choices & what the future has in store

Smelling:
Vanilla candles & slow cooked bbq pulled pork

Wearing:
New pjs, skirts & dresses

Following:
The lovely Sam from The Annoyed Thyroid & the super funny Rachel from Toilets aren’t for Turtles- check them both out in this Fan Girl Friday post

Noticing:
The birds in our backyard. Last year there were 2 doves that came to visit, this year their family has expanded & there are now four of them who hang out on our fence

Thinking:
of all the things I have to do & want to do & how I should stop procrastinating & just do them!

Sorting:
Boxes. It’s been a year since we moved & we’re STILL unpacking & going through boxes.

Getting:
Fit & Healthy- (hopefully) by Moving More in March

Bookmarking:
Easter treats & crafts

Coveting:
new homewares- couches, furniture & decor, just can’t make up my mind on a style or theme & then there is the little issue of $$$$

Disliking: how often I have to sweep & vacuum. Dark carpets & hardwood floors are not forgiving & show every piece of fluff, dust & crumbs!

Opening: Happy Mail, as part of the Oh so Happy mail project started by the lovely Chantelle aka Fatmumslim. It’s nice to send & receive a little bit of happy & kindess.

Giggling: with & at my boys & their funny little ways.

Feeling:
stressed out & worn out. Motherhood is not for the faint of heart!

Snacking:
On fruit, homemade bliss balls, nuts & yoghurt

Hearing:
the rain falling outside. It’s starting to feel more like Autumn now.

Taking Stock- December 2015

It’s crazy to think it’s already been 3 months since I did my first “taking stock” post as inspired by Pip at Meetmeatmikes & even more unbelievable that yet another year is drawing to a close. 2015, where did you go?

This is what’s been happening in my little world of late:

Making : chia seed pudding. It’s like porridge for the summer, but there’s no cooking required so I love it

Cooking : Christmas treats. Choc chip cookies are a favorite family tradition & I’m also making mint truffles

Drinking : lots of tea, always tea (I don’t do coffee) & I’m trying to drink more water but I struggle to get the daily quota

Reading: besides bedtime stories do Facebook status updates & Instagram captions count?

Wanting: health & happiness for all my friends & family in 2016. It might be cliche but it’s true.

Looking: At Christmas lights around the neighborhood. Magical. ✨

Playing: trains & cars with the boys

Deciding: whether to go away for a short family holiday or not. Hubby just needs to be able to get time off work

Wishing: hubby didn’t work every other weekend

Enjoying: the warmer weather & longer days which mean alfresco dining & late afternoon trips to the beach

Waiting: for online packages to be delivered

Liking: all the Christmas decorations around our home & at the shops, they sit in boxes for 11 months of the year so I’m enjoying them while I can.

Wondering: what 2016 has in store for our little family

Loving: All things unicorns at the moment like these cute Unicorno figures

Pondering: whether to buy some jamberry nail wraps. There are sooo many amazing designs, I could see it becoming quite addictive.

Considering: going back to work Fulltime & hubby to stay home? I’m pretty sure I’m not ready to do that quite yet, but we’re throwing ideas around

Buying: too much. Using Christmas as an excuse to splurge & shop while I can! 🛍

Watching: finally catching up on season 2 of Nashville

Hoping: that Pumpkin will eventfully learn to sleep through the night, going on nearly 15 months of broken sleep 💤

Marvelling: at the colours of the sunset, I love sky watching (it never gets old)

Cringing: At the rudeness & nastiness of some people.

Needing: More sleep. Always Sleep.

Questioning: who I am besides “mummy” & what I want out of life (yes deep I know)

Smelling: the cucumber & basil candle I bought at our local markets recently. It’s sooo refreshing & yum!

Wearing: Maxi dresses. My summer uniform 🙂

Following: The Notorious Mum. I’m a total fan & just love her honest & humorous parenting stories.

Noticing: All the work & little jobs that need doing around the house

Knowing: I need to make changes & better choices to live a healthier, happier life. The key is putting it into action.

Thinking: how awesome it is to be able to go & pick fresh berries from our backyard

Admiring: creative types. I’m in awe of some peoples talent.

Sorting: out the boys rooms, or at least trying too. Making room for all the new toys & clothes they’ll get this Christmas

Getting: organised. New diary & calendar ready to go & filling up fast.

Bookmarking: Far too many sweet treats thanks to Sam over at The Annoyed Thyroid. Did someone say fudge?

Coveting: the rose gold iPhone 6

Disliking: the long hours hubby works this time of year, especially as he doesn’t get paid overtime for it

Opening: early Christmas presents from friends & strangers after participating in my 3rd year of the fatmumslim gift exchange. I’ve been totally spolit already!

Giggling: At my boys, their daily antics & cute crap they say

Feeling: festive but tired

Snacking: on cherries, cookies, Christmas treats & popcorn

Helping: to make the world a better a place by buying some charity gifts from oxfam

Hearing: Christmas carols. I love this time of year & love singing along, it makes me feel merry.

Taking Stock – September 2015

Man I can’t believe its nearly the end of September already! They say time goes faster as you get older & they weren’t wrong.

So I thought it would be a good idea to join up with Pip at Meetmeatmikes & do a taking stock post to document where I’m starting from & see how much things may change or stay the same as I periodically complete her list below.

I also thought this would be a good way to “pop my blogging cherry” so to speak & give you a little bit more of an insight into my world. If you want to play along, I’ve attached a copy of the list at the end of this post for you to copy & paste, just be sure to credit & link back to Pip if you do.

Making: A mess. Lots & lots of mess. I can’t do anything in an orderly fashion

Cooking: Baby food/meals for the freezer, muffins, roasts & other quick, simple dinners

Drinking: Cups & cups of tea, chai lattes & hazelnut hot chocolates- warming myself up from the inside out

Reading: Bedtime stories- Enid Bylton at the moment & lots & lots of blogs over on Bloglovin.

Wanting: A massage & a decent nights sleep. My whole body aches & I’m so very, very tired

Looking: for my 4 yr olds misplaced items daily, lost hats, shoes, toys etc

Playing: Lots of backyard cricket & soccer

Deciding: What to buy our baby for his 1st birthday

Wishing: Time would slow down. Seriously, September’s nearly over already & Pumpkin is almost ONE!!

Enjoying: Sunny days, or at least I was. What happened to Spring? It feels like winter again here at the moment.

Waiting: On Hubby to get home. Every day it’s getting later & later with the crazy hours he’s doing

Liking: All things “Donuts” at the moment, like this cute new stationery range from Hippo Blue.

Wondering: If I’ll ever get a decent nights sleep again

Loving: Family catch ups

Pondering: Backyard designs. We’ve been in our home for 6 months now & want to start making some changes

Considering: Doing a nutritional cleanse

Buying: 1st birthday party supplies

Watching: ABC4 kids- all.the.time!

Hoping: To win the lotto! A girl can dream right? However I’d have a better chance of winning if I actually bought a ticket!

Marvelling: At the beauty of mother nature

Cringing: At our countries politics & yet another change of leadership mid term.

Needing: SLEEP!! 11 months of very few hours a night is taking its toll

Questioning: Every parenting decision I make & wondering if doing things differently would have had a different or better result

Smelling: Dirty nappies. Yep it’s gross, but true. Try not to be too jealous of my glamorous life

Wearing: Slippers & scarves. I LOVE scarves

Following: My baby Pumpkin EVERYWHERE as he’s very mobile & into EVERYTHING & everything goes in his mouth

Noticing: All the tiny baby contraband items lying around, I need to be on my game (see above)

Knowing: That I’m doing the best I can with where I am right now, although sometimes that’s easier said than done to remember

Thinking: About a holiday. It’s been a long time since we last had a proper one.

Admiring: People who jump in & “start” to go after what they want. Like Carly & her new business venture Little Lettie Boxes or Jo & her colourful new blog Say Hello Jo I procrastinate too much & overthink everything. I just need to “DO”.

Sorting: Baby and Kids clothes, both boys are having a growth spurt & it’s hard keeping up

Getting: Grey hairs! These boys are aging me prematurely

Bookmarking: Birthday ideas for a Rainbow themed party, like these ones over at ArtsyCraftyMom & Retro Mummy

Coveting: A new phone & computer. I desperately need an upgrade

Disliking: Yelling so often at naughty children

Opening: Bills. Gah- Car rego, service & insurance all due this month. Yuck!

Giggling: At Peanut & Pumpkins antics. They are so funny & cute together

Feeling: Tired. Beyond exhausted

Snacking: On chocolate, muesli bars & muffins- yep junk food, not good but the necessities of an emotional, stressed out & sleep deprived mumma

Helping: A friend through a difficult time, or at least I hope I am in some way

Hearing: Keith Urban, CDs, DVDs & Peanut singing the songs constantly. He’s obsessed & has a little man crush, it’s a bit cute.
